About Wassalou
Wassalou is a contemporary Afropop band created for Harambe Village at Disney's Animal Kingdom on Earth Day, April 22, 1998. They are the only band of their kind in Florida, bringing language, colorful traditional costuming, and dance straight out of Africa. Their repertoire consists of original songs as well as covers of legendary African artists such as Osibisa, Papa Wemba, Hugh Masekela, Manu Dibango, and Fela Kuti. Their music encompasses Hi-Life, Afro 6/8, Soukous, and other popular African dance music. At Disney's Animal Kingdom, the band performs under the name Burudika and returned in September 2024 after a 5-year absence.
